But those days are over thanks to some ingenious scientists at Granada University who have discovered that beer rehydrates the body better than water or Gatorade after a workout.
Professor Manuel Garzon also claimed the bubbles in beer (obviously using a more scientific term) help to quench your thirst.
The study was carried out on a group of dedicated students who were put through their paces until their body temperature reached 40 degrees C. The luckier half of the group were then given a beer while the other half got water.
Professor Garzon revealed the results at a press conference in Granada, saying the hydration effect in those who drank beer was “slightly better” - that'll do for us!
