UK Construction PMI - March 2012

The Construction PMI (Purchasing Managers’ Index) rose to 56.7 last month - up from 54.3 in February!

The UK construction sector output grew at its fasted pace since June 2010 and according to the latest figures from Markit/CIPS, new orders hit a four and a half year high!

Of the 3 major sectors of construction, most growth was seen in the commercial sector, but there was registered growth across housing and civil too.

The increased levels in expansion came as a pleasant surprise to most as economists had actually predicted a PMI of 53.5 for March; Then again, who would have predicted record temperatures of 23.6 degrees in Scotland this month!
